Where we are
Wheat Ridge, right where Denver meets the foothills.
The house is in Wheat Ridge's Applewood neighborhood, just off I-70 where Highway 58 peels off to Golden. That puts the foothills a few minutes west, downtown Denver about twenty minutes east, and the ski areas straight up I-70. Times below are for normal traffic from the house.
- Golden: about 10 minutes.
- Red Rocks: about 16 minutes.
- Downtown Denver and Union Station: about 20 minutes.
- Boulder: about 40 minutes.
- Denver International Airport: about 40 minutes.
- Loveland Ski Area, the closest big mountain: about 55 minutes.
Without a car
The RTD G Line commuter rail starts at Wheat Ridge · Ward Station, about ten minutes from the house, and runs through Arvada to Union Station in downtown Denver. From Union Station the A Line goes to the airport (about an hour and a half in all) and you can walk to Coors Field, Ball Arena and LoDo. The W Line light rail from Union Station runs west through Lakewood to Golden; its closest stops to us are Federal Center (parking) and Lamar.
